Every month, we have a different photo contest. All members are encouraged to go out and take a photo based of the current months theme, and upload it to the Alabama Shutterbugs Flickr group.

Contest Rules

Alabama Shutterbug members may enter 1 photograph per theme a month. Photo must be taken that month with the exception of film. Film Photog’s will be able to submit photographs from the 15th of the previous month.
Contest will run from the 1st of the month till the 28th of the month.
Photo should be taken by the member with a description of the photo and the date taken.
Photo submitted should be yours not someone elses
We have to say it: Alabama Shutterbugs is not responsible for images submitted by someone other than the rightful owner. By uploading your photograph you are giving Alabama Shutterbugs the right to display your photograph on our website.

Contest Voting & Scoring

Voting starts on the 29th and ends 2 days later. You will be able to place 3 votes per month. Voting will take place in the Discussion Forum.

There will be 2 scores for each photograph.

Technique: This will be based on technical skills such as Focus, exposure and lighting

1-5 points will be given (1 lowest to 5 highest)
Subject: Does this photograph follow the monthly theme, does it tell a story?

1-5 points will be given (1 lowest to 5 highest)
In the chance of a tie we will have a 24 hour “Vote Off” The winner will be determined at the end.

Contest Winners

All points will be averaged and the winner will be the person with the highest number of points. All members that have acquired photo contest points will add them up over the course of the year. At the end of the contest year, all points will be totaled for a grand prize winner. A prize, to be determined in the future, will be awarded to the winner.
